ASL Group Classes

What:

Learn ASL in a fun group class!  Dawn’s ASL classes are super affordable and flexible.  Each class includes: fingerspelling practices, new vocabulary, games, and time to chat with peers in ASL!  This class also includes a Christian unit so that you can learn Bible vocabulary, signing verses, or signing hymns.

When:

ASL 1 meets on Thursdays at 2 PM EST.

ASL 2 meets on Wednesdays at 2 PM EST.

Cost:

$8 per Zoom class for those that just want the class and light homework.

$10 per Zoom class if you would like more homework for full high school credit.

Curriculum:

Our curriculum is an excellent online video curriculum.  The videos are all made by deaf/native signers.  This includes an app you can have on a phone or tablet.  Your homework is at your fingertips!  The curriculum is a yearly fee of only $12 for access to 5+ years of lessons!

Requirements:

~You must use Zoom for each class so this includes a camera and microphone.

~Your internet speed must be fast enough to support video.  Everyone has internet glitches from time to time, but I expect it to be fairly reliable.

~Your hands and face must be clearly seen. You must be in a well lit place and the camera angle needs to show your signing space.  Facial expressions are of vital importance in ASL and must be seen clearly.

~You must interact with your peers in class.  I expect full participation including repeating signs when asked, chatting with peers when prompted, and participating in games and activities.

~Homework within your app should be completed at a minimum.  This ensures that you know the vocabulary so that you can interact in class.

~For those in the more homework track, you must create a free Canva account.  This is a school connectivity software.  This is where the extra homework will be submitted and where the gradebook resides.

Payments:

Spanish 1-1 or Group Class

What:

In my Spanish class, you’ll learn not just vocabulary and grammar, but also cultural and historic insights.  As always, I strive to make classes fun and engaging.

Classes for the fall are forming now.  If you are interested in a group Spanish class, let me know!

Curriculum:

I can use a textbook or I can create classes tailored to the learner (this cost is higher).

Requirements:

We use Zoom for all class meetings.  This means a working camera, microphone, and fast enough internet.

Students must be willing to step out of comfort zones and speak in the target language during class.

Cost:

One on one: $35 per hour (more for tailored classes).

Group classes: $10 per class (for high school credit).

Payment for classes can be made through Zelle, PayPal, or Venmo.

English for Learners of Other Languages

What:

My classes for the ESL learner are fun!  I teach ages 4-adult.  During class, we have a free chat time.  I tailor these questions to my students and ask about their interests, things about their local environment, or their daily activities.  If a young student needs a brain break, I will have a supplemental activity that is fun while still using the target language.  These classes range from 15 minutes to 1 hour each, depending on the needs of the student.  I also tailor each class for the student.  I have a variety of curricula to choose from so I am able to find one the student likes the best.  In addition, I find just the right level for the student.

When:

Anytime I am available!  Just ask me about available times.

Cost:

English classes are $9 per 15 minutes.

I can take payments through NihaoPay (this has 3 payment options), Zelle, PayPal, or Venmo.
